An OT Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) assesses a Participant’s ability to perform activities of daily living, identifies the support required to meet their goals, and provides clear funding recommendations that helps maximise use of funds and informs NDIS funding decisions.
An FCA may be required if a participants NDIS plan specifically requests this assessment.
An FCA becomes necessary when the current level of funded support no longer meets the participant's disability-related needs, for annual plan reviews, early depletion of funds, or to support home and living funding requests.
While an FCA is not mandatory for transitioning into the NDIS, it can be used to provide valuable evidence of substantially reduced functional capacity to support this application and recommend funding requirements.
An FCA may be requested by an individual seeking a detailed overview of their functioning and capacity for daily living or by an individual seeking professional guidance on the supports available to help them maximise independence.
